Faithful Preparation
We often pray for the opportunity before we prepare for it.
We ask God to open the door, expand our influence, increase our capacity, or bring us into a new season. But what if part of God's preparation for the opportunity is happening right now, before anyone else can see it?
Preparation can feel insignificant when there is no immediate reward.
You may be learning, practicing, developing, organizing, studying, or simply becoming more disciplined. It may seem like nothing is happening because the opportunity has not arrived yet.
But hidden preparation is not wasted time.
God can use the quiet seasons to prepare you for what you have been praying for.
David was anointed to become king, but he did not immediately sit on the throne.
Before the public assignment came, David spent time in the fields caring for sheep. What looked like an ordinary responsibility became part of his preparation.
His time in the field developed courage, responsibility, and skill. When the opportunity to face Goliath came, David was not starting from nothing. He had already experienced God's faithfulness and had developed confidence through previous battles.
Preparation often works the same way in our lives.
The opportunity may be visible, but the preparation is often hidden.
God may be developing your character before increasing your influence. He may be teaching you discipline before giving you greater responsibility. He may be strengthening your knowledge before giving you a platform to share it.
Sometimes we become frustrated because we want the next chapter before we have finished preparing for it.
But preparation is part of the process.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is “a time for every purpose under heaven.” There is a time to prepare and a time to step forward.
Do not despise the preparation season simply because it does not look like the promise.
Propelling Point
What you do before the opportunity arrives can determine how prepared you are to steward it when it comes.
Preparation is an expression of faith.
You are not preparing because you know exactly when the opportunity will come. You are preparing because you trust that what God is developing in you has purpose.
Do the work while it is still quiet.
Build the skill.
Strengthen the discipline.
Develop the character.
Learn what you need to learn.
When the door opens, you will be grateful that you used the waiting season wisely.

Ask yourself:
“What have I been praying for that I need to start preparing for?”
Choose one area and take one practical step today.
If you are praying for a new opportunity, develop your skills.
If you are praying for greater influence, strengthen your character.
If you are praying for a new assignment, learn what that assignment will require.
If you are praying for growth, establish habits that can support the growth you desire.
Then pray:
“Lord, help me recognize that preparation is part of Your process. Give me discipline to develop what You have placed in me and patience to trust Your timing. Prepare me for the opportunities You have ordained, and help me steward them well when they arrive. Amen.”
