The Beauty of Being Available Making Room for God to Use You

Being Available to God

We often think we need to be completely ready before God can use us.

We tell ourselves we need more experience, more knowledge, more confidence, more resources, or a better understanding of what comes next.

But throughout Scripture, God repeatedly used people who were simply willing.

They did not always have everything figured out.

They were available.

Sometimes the most powerful question is not, “Am I qualified?”

It is, “Am I willing?”

Isaiah 6:8 says:

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’”

Isaiah responded before knowing every detail of what the assignment would require.

His availability came before the full explanation.

That does not mean preparation is unnecessary. God can develop our skills and prepare us for specific assignments. But there are moments when waiting until you feel completely qualified can become an excuse for never responding.

You may have a gift that someone needs.

You may have an encouraging word that someone needs to hear.

You may have a story that could give someone hope.

You may have an opportunity to serve that could make a difference.

You may not feel ready.

But availability creates room for God to work through what you already have.

The little you carry can become significant when surrendered to God.

Think about the boy who offered his five loaves and two fish in John 6. What he had seemed insufficient for the need in front of him, but Jesus used what was available.

God does not require you to have everything.

He asks you to surrender what you do have.

Propelling Point

God can do much with a willing heart.

You may not feel qualified enough.

You may not have all the resources.

You may not know exactly how everything will work.

But do not disqualify yourself before God has finished developing you.

Sometimes your next step is simply making yourself available.

Say yes to the opportunity to encourage.

Say yes to serving.

Say yes to learning.

Say yes to showing up.

Say yes when God opens a door that aligns with His purposes.

Propel Activation

Ask yourself:

“Where am I waiting to feel qualified before becoming available?”

Think about one place where you could serve, encourage, contribute, or respond.

It does not have to be something large.

Send the encouraging message.

Volunteer.

Share your testimony.

Help someone who needs assistance.

Offer your gift.

Make the call.

Take the first step.

Then pray:

“Lord, make me available. Help me stop disqualifying myself because I do not feel ready. Show me where You want me to serve, encourage, and make a difference. Use what I have, develop what I lack, and help me trust You with the results. Amen.”
